Brewer's Calculator (Windows): We use this program on a daily basis in our store to work out recipes for customers and to fine tune our recipe kits. It is also used by many major brewpubs and micros, including us (for HopTown Brewing Company). For Windows, it is quite simply the best piece of brewing software on the market. Its basic function in life is to help you formulate recipes, plan your brews and keep records of your efforts. It also keeps track of your brewing supply inventory. When formulating a recipe, you select from malts, extracts, specialty grains, hops, yeast etc. and Brewer's Calculator will give you running totals of starting gravity, estimated finishing gravity and alcohol, bitterness, beer color, etc. If you're an all grain brewer, it will help you plan the mash. It also has a nifty water calculator for determining mineral content compared to your target beer style. All of the recognized beer styles are instantly available as help files for easy reference. When you've completed your masterpiece, you can then print the entire recipe on a single page. After you've brewed the beer, you can come back and enter actual brewing values and times, tasting notes etc. It keeps your entire recipe as well as your brewing supplies in a database format. Supplied on 3.5" high density floppies and requires Windows 3.1 or Windows 95 and at least 3 MB (8 MB for Windows 95/98) of memory to run. We recommend a 486 or higher performance machine. From Regent Software. SWBRC $39.95
