Ingredient Kits

new.gif (1073 bytes)  Any of our kits that automatically include liquid yeast now include Wyeast's new XL (extra large) packs.  These swell up in 6-12 hours and no starter is required so you can usually brew the same day you pop the packet.  Any of the kits that normally come with dry yeast can be upgraded to an XL pack for just $5.00 extra.

new.gif (1073 bytes)We now include "difficulty ratings" with the kits.  Possibilities are very easy, easy, intermediate and advanced.  Very easy are those with minimal steps and no grain to steep.  Easy kits include some grain to steep.  Intermediate kits include grain and usually require dry hopping and/or have high gravities.  Advanced kits may require partial mashes and/or temperature control during fermentation.

Most of the kits require a grain bag which is not included.  If you already have one, great, but be advised that some of these kits come with a lot of grain, so the small muslin "socks" are usually unsuitable.  We sell a nice, large, reusable nylon grain bag:

Grain Steeping Bag: HopTech's own extra large, fine mesh nylon grain steeping bag has plenty of space for the water to get at the grains for maximum extraction. Can also be used as a hop bag for whole hops during the boil. Reusable. GRNBAG $3.00 (E)

new.gif (1073 bytes)For the all-grain brewer, you can now order our kits as all grain kits.  You're going to get the standard extract instructions as we assume you know what to do.  We will substitute appropriate amounts of grains for the normally included extract.  There is no extra charge for this.  If ordering on line, tell us in the comments section which kits you want all grain.

Our kit descriptions list the approximate starting gravity (SG), alcohol percentage (by volume) and the IBUs (international bittering units).  All of these can be affected by the brewing process and can vary quite a bit.  So remember that these numbers are estimates for average situations and as they say, your mileage may vary.

HopTech's Own Kits

HopTech's own recipe kits come complete with liquid malt extract, grains, priming sugar and hops pre-measured. Also included are complete instructions. Unless otherwise noted, all kits include dry yeast appropriate for the style, but may be upgraded to an appropriate Wyeast XL liquid yeast for $5.55 extra.

Ingredient Kits Exclusively by HopTech

HopTech is pleased to be able to offer the homebrewer an exclusive line of kits based on the award winning beers from Pacific Coast Brewing Co. All the kits were designed by Pacific Coast Brewmaster Don Gortemiller and are 5 gallon versions of the same recipes used to brew his famous beers. Now you can brew the same beers at home, using the identical ingredients, that have won medal after medal at the Great American Beer Festival (GABF). If you're ever in the Oakland area, be sure and stop by the pub to sample not only some great beers but some great food as well.

Our Pacific Coast kits come complete with liquid malt extract, pre-ground grains,  priming sugar and hops pre-measured and complete instructions. All kits include the same dry yeast used at the brewery, but may be upgraded to an appropriate XL liquid yeast for $5.55 extra.
