Hop Bags: Our hop bags are primarily used for dry hopping. You put hops in the bag and then pull and tie the drawstring. Tie the end of the drawstring to one of our hop weights, and put in your secondary fermenter. If you use kegs, optionally you can put the bag in your serving and/or conditioning keg. The bag serves two purposes. It keeps the hops from clogging lines and airlocks and getting into the served beer, and keeps them suspended in the beer (whole hops tend to float to the surface). These bags are 100% cotton drawstring bags, with a mesh fine enough to let the hop aroma out, but keep pellet particles in. Yes, they can be used with pellets! They can also be used to contain the hops during the boil, but utilization may suffer somewhat. These bags can be rinsed out and re-used many times, or are cheap enough to be disposable. The small size (4x6") holds about 1/3 of an ounce of whole hops or 3/4 of an ounce of pellets. The large size (8x10") will hold up to two ounces of whole hops, but use only 1 ounce if you have small carboy neck. Large Hop Bags (qty 5): BAGLG $5.50/5 Small Hop bags (qty 5): BAGSM $2.50/5
Hop Weight: Our hop weight is made of teflon and won't scratch glass, plastic or steel. They are boilable and won't react with anything in your brew. Specially designed for use with glass carboys, they act as a pusher to get hop bags in and a "handle" to get them back out! Or just drop the bag and weight into your keg. Designed to tie to the end of hop bag's drawstring, they allow the bag to float up and be suspended in the middle of the beer for maximum aroma extraction. Since the weight is outside the bag, more room is left for hops inside the bag. Both the bags and weights come with instructions and usage tips. Expensive, but safe on all counts and will last forever. HOPWT: $10.00
